Regional Chair's Message
Regional Chair's Message
This, my last year as Chair of Region A of NAMEPA, it has gone by so fast. NAMEPA has become true and dear to my heart.
Regionally, we have seen many of those veteran program directors either moving on to different or expanded programmatic responsibilities or totally different arenas outside of the traditional MEP scope. We miss the interaction with, and sage commentary of, some of our colleagues but in other ways, it was necessary to allow new and different persons and thoughts to emerge to guide the Region to be cognizant of and responsive to, new programmatic challenges and institutional circumstances.
Nationally, NAMEPA has emerged from a period of self-explanation and is now determining its direction while assuring that all direct and tangential supporters are being served personally, programmatically and are in step to best serve our students. I like other past chairs still encourage all directors and associated MEP programs staff, faculty, administrators and corporate supporters to strengthen their relationships so we can make a quantum leap in keeping NAMEPA on the map.
It has been a pleasure and I stand ready to serve as always.
Thank You for your support

Dear NAMEPA Members,
Filled with anticipation, excitement and enthusiasm I have been working very hard to insure that NAMEPA is extremely productive. Equally as busy, I am certain that you all share in these sentiments. While many of us are undoubtedly actively involved in summer programs on our respective college/university campuses still others are equally busy transitioning students into their companies and planning for fall campus recruitment among other things. NAMEPA represents an impressive partnership between university and industry professionals, thus; allowing us to work collectively in building the intricate link between institutions of higher learning and the nation's engineering workforce.
At a critical stage in the revitalization of our organization, the active engagement of each one of us in this process is imperative. In fact, I strongly encourage you all to assume a leadership role in NAMEPA so that we can tackle the pressing issues with which we are confronted today. As we complete this academic year and plan for 2006-2007 there are many challenges before us. Through our collaborative efforts NAMEPA will make monumental progress towards fulfilling our mission:
“To provide quality services, information, and tools for our stakeholders to produce a diverse pool of engineers and scientists, and achieve equity and parity in the nation's workforce.”
Best regards,
Carolyn Vallas
